ACTI-MENU is now Capsana

A new name and a new identity to mark ACTI MENU’s 25th birthday

Montreal, October 30, 2013 – ACTI MENU today officially became Capsana, in a rebranding that reflects the evolution of the organization’s spectrum of services and activities over its 25 year history. Its new name, logo and website were unveiled this morning.

Founded in 1988, Capsana is a social enterprise dedicated to the promotion of health and healthy lifestyles, as well as the prevention and management of chronic diseases. The organization is behind such well-known public campaigns as the Quit to Win! Challenge and the 5/30 Health and Wellness Challenge.

The organization’s new name, Capsana, is an original and colourful way to say “setting the course for health,” both physical and mental (cap, from the French word for “direction or objective,” and sana, from the Latin word for “healthy”). The red colour of the new logo symbolizes the organization’s vitality and energy, and its abstract shape suggests movement and action. The motto Activate your health completes Capsana’s new visual identity and directly references its mission: helping individuals take an active role in their health.

“At first our programs and services were geared mainly to physical activity, hence ‘ACTI,’ and nutrition, hence ‘MENU,’” explained Louis Gagnon, M.D., co-president and founder of Capsana. “Over the years the enterprise evolved and the scope of its activities expanded. We wanted to adopt a new name that would reflect the organization’s growth and areas of expertise.”

“Capsana gives the organization a clear definition and a dynamic image that illustrates both its global approach to health and the range of its offer of services. We are delighted with our new identity, which is right in step with our current positioning and where we want to go in future,” noted Guy Desrosiers, Capsana’s Chief Executive Officer.

The organization’s new website, www.capsana.ca, went live today. It presents an overview of every sector of the organization and offers visitors an updated online experience with more intuitive navigation.
